Once upon a time, Notion was just an idea 💡So we like to give back to other companies just getting started. We partner with incubators and accelerators from Tennessee to Tokyo to offer $1,000 in free credit to startups that sign up for a Notion Team Plan.

How it works

We work with 50+ incubators and accelerators to provide their portfolio companies with $1,000 in free credit toward a Notion Team Plan. This helps us verify applicants and reach companies around the world.

For a complete list of partners, check out the dropdown menu in the form below.

Usually, a Team Plan costs $10 per person per month. So, $1,000 represents nearly a year free for a team of 10, and so on.

We're also looking to add more partners along the way! Incubators, accelerators and early-stage funds can apply to work with us here.

How startups can apply

To submit an application for the $1,000 USD credit toward a Notion Team Plan:

Click Start on the form below, or find the same application at notion.so/startups.

On page 2, you'll find a complete list of our incubator and accelerator partners. Select any one partner your company works with from the dropdown, and complete the subsequent questions to submit your application. This takes less than 5 minutes.

Your workspace will need to have a custom domain to complete the form. You can create a custom domain for your workspace by going to Settings & Members in your lefthand sidebar, and clicking Settings. Under Domain, type whatever you want in the text box.

In the example above, you would copy "acmeinc" from the text box, and paste this into the space provided on page 4 of the application form.

Note: The $1,000 credit can only be applied to one workspace. Make sure you're providing the domain associated with the workspace you'd like to use for your startup!

If your incubator or accelerator is not on our list of partners, we unfortunately can't verify your eligibility right now. But we want to grow our partnership list soon!

Your investors can apply to become a Notion partner by submitting this quick application. They can also find it at notion.so/startups.

About our Team Plan

Of all the plans Notion offers, the Team Plan is especially well suited to startups. It grows and scales with you, offering a central source of truth for team knowledge, decision making, task management and more, so everyone stays on the same page. Here are the details:

It costs $8 per member per month if you pay for Notion yearly.

It costs $10 per member per month if you pay for Notion monthly.

You can invite as many members as you want. Guests from outside your workspace are free.

There is no block limit.

There is no file upload limit.

Use permission controls to assign members different levels of access (comment-only, read-only, edit-only, etc.) as needed, and to control who can share content.

Our support team will prioritize your messages.

Access version history of any page for up to 30 days.

Access admin settings to configure your workspace in ways other members can't.

Export all of your Notion content at once as Markdown or HTML.

Use your credit

If your application is approved, we'll add $1,000 USD of credit to your startup's workspace.

Note: Referral credit and workspace credit are different, so you won't see this reflected in the Earn Credit section of Settings & Members. Instead, your workspace credit lives in the Billing section, which appears once you're on a paid plan.

Upgrade from a Free Plan

After you submit an application to redeem the credit, our support team will send you a message if you've been approved, prompting you to upgrade.

Before you upgrade, be sure to add your teammates to your workspace, using the Members section of Settings & Members in the sidebar:

In the Upgrade section of Settings & Members, click the blue Upgrade button under "Team":

Your first invoice will probably be $0, depending on the number of members in your workspace and whether you chose monthly or annual billing. You'll still need to provide your payment information to upgrade.

Don't worry about section 2 in the upgrade pop-up! This is referring to referral credit, not workspace credit. More on referral credit here →

Voilà ✨The credit will be automatically applied to your upcoming invoices until they run out!

If you already have a subscription

You'll find your credit listed in the Billing section of Settings & Members in your sidebar, next to "Workspace Balance."

After we add your credit, it will be automatically applied to your upcoming invoices until it runs out. To take a closer look at your invoices, you can click the View Invoice buttons under the "Invoices" section in Billing.

Why is Notion offering a discount for startups?

We've seen thousands of startups use Notion to get going on the right foot — as a wiki, for project management, document sharing, notes, and more. We want to help more companies lay a strong foundation that can grow with them from the beginning 🙌

Beyond that, we want to make these types of tools available to startups everywhere — from Tennessee to Tokyo — not just in major tech hubs. Right now, we're working with accelerators and incubators as partners to offer this discount, and we want to keep growing our list. Know of a partner we should work with? How do I apply to receive the $1,000 credit?

Easy! Fill out this form. It takes less than 5 minutes.

Who is eligible?

You qualify for the discount if you meet these criteria:

You're starting a workspace on Notion's Team Plan or Enterprise Plan for a startup.

You're working with one of our partnering incubators or accelerators (see our form for the full list).

You're in the most recent or upcoming batch in your incubator or accelerator.

How will I receive the $1,000 credit?

You'll hear from our support team after you submit your application. Once you're approved, we'll prompt you to upgrade to a Team Plan — you can do so via the Upgrade tab of Settings & Members. The credit will be applied to the cost of the plan until you hit $1,000 in spending. More on that here →

What is $1,000 in Notion credit worth?

Notion's Team Plan usually costs $10 per member per month paid monthly. So, for a team of 10, $1,000 in credit represents 10 months of free Notion. For a team of 5, it's 20 months of free Notion, and so on.

Why is Notion partnering with accelerators and incubators to make this discount available?

Great question! We needed to come up with a system to quickly verify the identity of startups applying for the discount, and this was the most straightforward way to do it. At the same time, we wanted to get in front of as many new companies as possible, and knew that working with partners would help us spread the word really effectively around the world, including in geographies outside of major tech hubs.

All that said, our ultimate goal is to make this discount available to as many startups as we can, so we're very open to growing our list of partners. We'd love your suggestions. And, if you'd like to work with us as a partner, please apply to join our startup program here.

How can I see the credit in my account?

Click the Billing tab in Settings & Members in your sidebar. You'll see your current credit count under "Workspace Balance."

Things to note:

The Billing tab will only appear once you've upgraded to a paid plan. Until you upgrade to a paid plan, you will only see the $1,000 credit in the upgrade pop-up and nowhere else. If you're on a Free Plan, you can trigger the upgrade pop-up in the Upgrade tab of Settings & Members.

The Earn Credits tab is separate from your $1,000 credit, which is only tracked in the Billing tab.

Can I apply the startup credit to multiple workspaces or accounts?

Sorry, the $1,000 credit can only be applied to one workspace per company.

How much credit do I have left?

There are two ways you can check:

Go to the Settings & Members panel in Notion and click the Billing section. Your remaining workspace credits are listed under "Workspace Balance."

You can also check your remaining credit balances on your invoices. Go to Settings & Members and click the Billing section. Under "Invoices," click the View Invoice link. You'll see your remaining credit balance under "Workspace Credit Balance."

I want this discount to be available to my portfolio companies. How can I become a partner?

We want to hear from you! Fill out this quick form, and we'll get back to you with more information. We're especially interested in finding partners outside of major tech hubs and around the world.

I'm working with an incubator or accelerator that isn't on your partner list. What should I do?

Unfortunately, the credit is limited to startups working with our current list of partners. That said, we plan to expand eligibility in the future. In the meantime:

Send your investor a note encouraging them to join the program. Here's our partner application form for them to fill out.

Tweet at them and @NotionHQ with the hashtag #NotionforStartups and we'll pick up the conversation!

I clicked the Earn Credits tab, but don't see my credit.

Sorry for the confusion 🙈To help explain, Notion has two types of credit:

Referral credit: You earn this from referrals and using Notion features. You can see how much credit you've accumulated via Settings & Members in the Earn Credit section.

Workspace credit: This is separate from referral credit and is automatically applied to your invoices. Your $1,000 in startup credit is workspace credit. You can keep track of it via Settings & Members in the Billing section under "Workspace Balance."

Can I apply my startup credit to an Enterprise Plan?

Yes you can 💪 In Settings & Members, go to the Upgrade section and click the blue Upgrade button under "Enterprise." The upgrade will take effect immediately.

I'm an alumnus of one of the partners on your list. Am I eligible for the credit?

The discount is currently limited to startups from the most recent and future batches.

I'm on the team of one of your partner organizations. Am I eligible for the credit?

Ask whoever is in charge of portfolio benefits for your firm, and have them get in touch with us at team@makenotion.com.

I already have a startup discount. Am I still eligible for the credit?

If you have a prior discount with us, you are not eligible for the $1,000 credit.

I'm already paying for a Team Plan and eligible for the discount. Can I get a refund?

We won't issue a refund for your previous invoices, but if you're eligible for the $1,000 credit, it will be automatically applied to your upcoming invoices.
