You can update your profile image/avatar, name, email address and basic preferences in the My account section of
Settings & Members
on desktop. This is also where you can delete your Notion account when you no longer need it. Updates you make to your account information affect all of your Notion workspaces.Note: These changes can't be made from the mobile app, except for password settings.

Change your profile image
- Click
Settings & Members
at the top of the left sidebar.
- Select
My Account
at the top left of that window.
- Under
Photo
, selectUpload Photo
.
- Choose the photo you want and click
Open
.
- Click
Update
to save your changes.

Change your email address
- Click
Settings & Members
at the top of the left sidebar.
- Select
My Account
in the sidebar of the new window.
- Within
Personal Info
andEmail
, clickChange Email
.
- Enter your new email address and click
Send Verification Code
.
- You'll receive an email with a verification code at the new address.
- Copy the verification code sent to your new email address; paste it into Notion and click
Change Email
.

Tip: If you use the same email address for your Notion account and your Google account, you'll be able to use
Continue with Google
to log in to Notion.Update your name
- Click
Settings & Members
at the top of the left sidebar.
- Select
My Account
in the sidebar of the new window.
- Within
Personal Info

Password settings
There's a few different options for signing into your Notion account. You can use a permanent password, or remove your password to use a temporary passcode sent to your inbox for each login, and there's
Continue with Google
and Continue With Apple
as well. Regardless of how you log into Notion, we'll keep you logged in for 90 days per device before you're asked to login again.
Important Note: Never share your password with anyone, even Notion support! If someone's claiming to be Notion support and asking for your password, it's not us.
All passwords are encrypted on our servers, so we don't have access to any password data.
Set a permanent password
- Click
Settings & Members
at the top of the left sidebar, and thenMy Account
. - If you're on mobile, tap
Notifications & Settings
in your sidebar.
- Click the
Set a Password
button.
- Enter a password that meets the security requirements, and repeat to confirm.

Change password
- You can change an existing password by clicking the
Change Password
button:

Remove password (Use temporary passcodes sent to your email)
- If you'd rather not associate a password with your account, you can remove it.
- If you don't have a permanent password associated with your account, we'll send a temporary passcode to your inbox for each login.
- To do this, click
Remove Password
.

Note: The temporary passcodes sent to your email inbox expire after 30 minutes.
Reset password
- If you forgot your password, navigate to notion.so/login in your web browser.
- Click the
Continue with email
button.
- Enter the email address associated with your Notion account.
- Click the
Forgot password?
button, and then theSend Reset Link
button.
- We'll send a link to your email address. When you click that link, you'll be taken to
Settings & Members
in your Notion workspace, where you'll have the option to set a new password. - If you do not set a new password at this point, you'll return to logging in via temporary password for each new login.

Continue with Google
You can use
Continue with Google
for a faster login as long as your Notion account email is the same as your Google email. For example, if your Google email is adalovelace@gmail.com, you can use
Continue with Google
to login as long as that's the email you see in the My account section of Settings & Members

to login, you'll be asked for your Google password in a pop-up window, not your Notion password.
- If you have 2-Step Verification enabled for your Google account, you'll need to authenticate with a second device.

Continue with Apple
You can use

for a faster login as long as your Notion account email is the same as your Apple ID. For example, if your Apple ID is adalovelace@icloud.com, you can use

to login as long as that's the email you see in the My account section of Settings & Members

for the first time, you'll see two options:- Share My Email: Choose this option if you want to link

with an existing Notion account. If you're creating a new Notion account, we'll use the email associated with your Apple ID as your Notion account email.
- Hide My Email: Choose this option if you want to hide your email from Notion. A brand new account will be created with a unique email such as dpdcnf87nu@privaterelay.appleid.com, which will only work with Notion.
- You won't be able to link
Continue with Apple
with an existing Notion account if you choose Hide My Email. - You'll still receive Notion emails forwarded to the email associated with your Apple ID.
- To stop using
Continue with Apple
with Notion, or to change your Share My Email / Hide My Email preference, go to the Apple ID section of your device settings, then Password & Security. Apple Support guide here →

- When you choose
Continue with Apple
to login, you'll be asked for your Apple ID password in a pop-up window, not your Notion password.

Calendars in Notion will use Sunday or Monday as the first day of the week, depending on your region. That includes the date picker for reminders and calendar databases. If you prefer, you can change this manually.
- Click

Calendar Settings
, toggle onStart Week on Monday

Update

Delete your account
In some cases, you might want to delete your Notion account. This is permanent, and will automatically delete all workspaces and cancel any paid plans. You'll want to have 100% confidence that you'll no longer need that information. Consider backing it up beforehand. Learn about backing up your data here.

I just got an email saying I changed my email address or password, but I didn't!
If you receive an unexpected email notifying you of a change to your password, you should reset your password as soon as possible. Follow these steps:
- Navigate to notion.so/login in your web browser.
- Click the

- Enter the email address associated with your Notion account.
- Click the
Forgot password?
button, and then theSend Reset Link
button.
- We'll send a link to your email address. When you click that link, you'll be taken to
Settings & Members
in your Notion workspace, and your password will be reset.

I tried changing my email address but got an error message saying: "A user with this email already exists."
If you'd like to change your account email to one that already exists within Notion, you can log into the account that holds the email you want and delete that account to free up that email address.
To delete the account, go to
Settings & Members
in the left sidebar, then My Account
, then Delete My Account
.Then log into your current account, and go to
Settings & Members
, then My Account
, and select Change email
. You should be able to switch to the freed up email address.My company is changing their domain name. How do we migrate?
Our system will recognize and change the account emails to the new domain automatically upon login with the new domain, as long as the email address is the same (i.e. "john@makenotion.com" → "john@notion.com").
If the email address is not the same (i.e. js@makenotion.com → john@notion.com), you will need to manually change your account email in
My Account
under Settings & Members
