Coffee Chat (1.5h+ or rolling)

What it looks like:

  • 3 to 15 people.
  • Casual seating around a table so people can show off their workspaces.
  • Taking turns to share, or discussing a specific topic (like how to build wikis, roadmaps, etc.).

Top tips:

  • We recommend group discussions, so look for a cafe with ample seating and table space.
  • Look for somewhere quiet, where people won't have to shout to be heard.
  • You can also bring coffee to a more open venue, like a lawn on a campus, office cafeteria, etc.
  • Coffee, of course, is not a requirement β˜•οΈAny beverage (or snack) will do!

Pros:

  • Quick + casual. Attendees can stop in for a few minutes and roll out whenever they want.
  • It's easy for people to sit in a circle, show each other what's up on their own laptops, and give each other thoughtful feedback/ideas.

Cons:

  • Being at the mercy of the cafe means that there will be less structure than you might have at a privately hosted event.
  • Depending on the size, some people may not get the chance to share.
