Roadmap 🚗
Schedule ~2 to 3 hours for the program including setup and takedown.
Arrange for a few people to present the way they use Notion, preferably in different ways. You can also ask attendees to volunteer.
Suggested topics
- Task management systems - how folks built them and how they work
- Helpful templates - people can share what might be useful for others
- Tips and tricks - hacks, workarounds, or ideas people have really enjoyed
- Notion for work - how people's companies use Notion, helpful workflows, etc.
- Personal wikis - how people have structured their personal notes and work
- Icons & cover photos - share custom icons or images to beautify Notion pages
- Integrations - tools are people excited to build when Notion has an API and Zapier integration
- Self improvement - how folks use Notion for journaling or other habit formation
- Show & tell - volunteers walk through through an interesting system or page built in Notion
Check in with your presenters before the event and talk about their presentation with them. Ideal length (in our experience) is 10 minutes with 5 minutes for Q&A.
If you're structuring this as a workshop, you may only have one presenter (possibly yourself) sharing knowledge with attendees. Send us a note and we're happy to help!
Â
Arrive an 1 hour early. Ask your presenters to arrive 30 min. early.
Give yourself enough time to set everything up before your presenters arrive. And then give them enough time to test their setup on the big screen with visuals, audio or visual.
Â
Set up food and drink before people arrive.
Make sure there are places for people to recycle and throw things away. You'll want them to feel comfortable grabbing food as they come in early, so they are ready to sit down with it when the main program begins.
Â
Have a sign-in sheet ready so you can follow up afterward.
Very minimal, clean design often looks elegant. Here's a Notion logo for you to use:
Â
As soon as you have critical mass, get everybody to take a seat. Introduce yourself and the other presenters.
Ask people to go around with names and hometowns/hobbies/occupations if there are <30 attendees.
Â
Jump into presentations.
Cap everyone at 15 including Q&A, and then dismiss everyone to finish the drinks + snacks and take swag on their way out. Leave time for attendees to hang out and chat after the presentations.
Â
Wrap up!
Catch people on their way out and ask them about their experience. Consult the follow-up promotion guide. Consider emailing them a survey after the fact to ask:
- What did people like about the event?
- What did they learn?
- What could have been better
It's always good to learn!
